Born on March 24, 1979, as Syed Emraan Anwar Hashmi, Indian actor Emraan Hashmi is best known for his performance in several commercially successful Bollywood thrillers. He made his Bollywood debut in 2003 with the movie ‘Footpath’ and rose to prominence with the 2004 movie ‘Murder’ alongside actors Mallika Sherawat and Ashmit Patel. Some of his commercially successful movies include ‘Murder’ (2004), ‘Zeher’ (2005), ‘Aashiq Banaya Aapne’ (2005), ‘Kalyug’ (2005), ‘Gangster’ (2006), ‘Awarapan’ (2007), ‘Raaz: The Mystery Continues’ (2009), ‘The Dirty Picture’ (2011), ‘Jannat 2’ (2012), and ‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai’ (2010). He is the nephew of producers Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt and cousin to director Mohit Suri, and actors Pooja Bhatt and Alia Bhatt. He is married to Parveen Shahani and the couple has a son, born in February 2010. In 2014, his son was diagnosed with first-stage cancer. His son was declared cancer-free in 2019.
